SUMMARY:Recording - Remember then: memories of 1946-1969 and how to record your own (Recording)
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday 6th October 2026\, 10:00-11:30\nZoom Recording\nRecording of Dr Janet Few’s talk \n\nAbout the talk\nThis talk describes the results of a project during which eighty women recorded their memories of life in Britain during the pivotal period 1946-1969 – a time when we moved from liberty bodices to mini skirts and from ration books to ready meals. We saw the emergence of youth culture\, the comprehensive education system\, conspicuous consumerism and feminism. Either come and reminisce or discover what life was like at the time. \nThis talk is much more than just a collection of memories. The techniques described will help both men and women\, of all ages\, to start writing reminiscences of their own. \nAbout the speaker\nJanet Few is an experienced and qualified family\, social and community historian who lectures regularly on these subjects throughout the UK and overseas. She has spoken at many national and international genealogical events and is also a well known author. Her particular interests include women’s history\, the history of the marginalised and seventeenth century social history. She is actively involved in several family and local history societies and is currently serving as the President of the Family History Federation. Virtual and in-person talks and interactive workshops given. There is more information on her website The History Interpreter \n<LINK WILL BE PLACED HERE AFTER THE MEETING> \n
